Jeffrey K. Watson, president of the Casino Queen in East St. Louis and affiliated companies has been named an associate judge in the 20th Judicial District.
Marcia M. Meis, director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, made the announcement.
Watson received his undergraduate degree in 1991 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and his Juris Doctor in 1994 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
Watson, on his LinkedIn page, says he is president of CQ Holding Company, Inc., comprised of the Casino Queen, Inc. in East St. Louis and Casino Queen Marquette in Iowa). CQ Holding and its subsidiaries are the first and to date only 100 percent employee owned casinos in the United States by virtue of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Watson has oversight of all corporate and operational departments including 750-plus employees. He also serves as Casino Queen's general counsel overseeing all company legal matters and government relations.
He also said is currently serves as a commissioner for the Bi-State Development Agency which oversees the St. Louis Metropolitan transit system and is past chair of the commission.
He said he is active in the East. St. Louis Bar Association, St. Clair County Bar Association (past president) and Illinois State Bar Association (member).
