p12 Renee Porter    Lindenwood University is dedicated to excellence in higher education, and I am happy to say that we are looking to the future with great enthusiasm as we evolve to meet the needs of an ever-changing student body. That’s why we are committed to our campuses in St. Charles, Mo., and Belleville, Ill., along with our six other academic service centers throughout the region.
Since its establishment in 2003, the Belleville campus has grown to a full-service institution serving 1,460 undergraduate and graduate students from 41 states and more than 56 countries. We’ve seen how our growing footprint in southern Illinois has encouraged students to stay in their home state to study, learn, and grow. More p12 Lindenwoodthan ever, we are working with outlying and rural Illinois communities whose students are attracted to our tight-knit and supportive campus environment, and we continue to commit ourselves to the success of those students and to the region.
Lindenwood University-Belleville is now a member of the Illinois Articulation Initiative, so students who complete credits at an Illinois community college can seamlessly transfer them to Lindenwood University-Belleville and complete a four-year degree. Likewise, we are active throughout the Metro East area and beyond and are engaged with civic leaders, community organizations, economic boards, and advisory councils to ensure that we can meet the needs of our student body, all while enhancing the communities in which our employees and students live, work, and grow.
Our excellent faculty and the opportunities they provide to our students drive the quality education Lindenwood is known for. This is seen in the work our professors do in and out of the classroom. For instance, Assistant Professor of Management Dr. Amy Determann sits on the board working to establish the Metro East Business Incubator alongside the Urban League, Regional Chamber of Commerce, and small Business Development Council. Or, look at Associate Professor of Criminal Justice Dr. Andrea Boyles, who will attend the United Nations’ 63rd Commission of the Status of Women this spring. These are just a few of the illustrations that exemplify the quality faculty we have at Lindenwood and how those professors bring their real experience with them to the classroom, which undoubtedly supports our students’ real success. We are busy immersing our students into the fiber of the Metro East and the St. Louis region, and we look forward to continuing the strong partnerships that have been established over the 16 years Lindenwood has had a presence in the Metro East.
