As branch manager for Commerce Bank’s Belleville East banking center, Tiffany Zeller gets a great deal of satisfaction from her work when she can bring unexpected benefits to her clients.
p09 zeller    The last few years have brought many such benefits to Commerce Bank members due to low interest rates.
“I recall a customer who refinanced her mortgage and because of the rate difference we saved her over $20,000 in interest over the life of her loan,” said Zeller. “She was able to pay off her home almost three years sooner than she had originally thought. That is the type of situation that makes my day.”
2014 marks Zeller’s 14th year in the banking industry and her eighth year with Commerce Bank. Her career was launched at West Pointe Bank where she worked as a personal banker during college. After graduating from McKendree University in 2004, she realized banking was the right fit and focused on developing her career at West Pointe. After one year, she transferred to the bank’s Belleville banking center, which was extremely busy and fast-paced. She says she was able to gain a lot of experience there and loved all aspects of the bank. When West Pointe was acquired by Commerce Bank in 2006, she transitioned to the new organization.
“In my time in the banking industry, I have witnessed the many ups and downs of the economy. But one thing has remained constant – I do my best to provide superior customer service and offer the most valuable solutions to help my clients reach whatever financial goals they have,” said Zeller.
In the position of branch manager, Zeller and her employees assist clients with all of their deposit, lending and investing needs. Her main priority is ensuring her clients understand that Commerce Bank is not a quick one-stop place to complete a transaction.
“We want to get to know our clients and understand what it is they are trying to accomplish. We want to make sure our customers are not only meeting their goals, but are also protected for the future,” said Zeller.
She and her team discuss topics such as ID theft protection, emergency funds, and life insurance to plan for the unexpected. Taking time to educate clients is a responsibility they take seriously.
As a woman in banking, she believes that women are an unstoppable force. At Commerce Bank, she sees many motivated women such as herself moving into management positions.
“I recognize that there are differences between men and women, but my belief is that if I can save someone money or make a higher rate of return on their investments, they will return to me no matter what,” said Zeller.
At Commerce Bank, giving back to the community is engrained in the culture and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time. Zeller is no exception. She has been involved in Relay for Life, the Big Brothers Big Sisters bowl-a-thon, and the bank’s yearly United Way campaign.
Zeller was born in Belleville but has lived in Millstadt her entire life. She has been married to Daniel Zeller for nine years and they have two children.
